More
than thirty people have attended sessions, at three
venues around the county. Most required nursing home
care but one group were attending for day care.
Twelve
sessions lasting one hour each were held at weekly
intervals at each venueAll sessions were led by registered
music therapists. They were assisted by volunteers
who supported the older people taking part.
Music
was made by the participants themselves, for themselves.
Since
the project was completed, funding has been obtained
to extend the mindsong project to more care homes
around the county. Plans are also being made to develop
singing groups, initially in care homes
Gloucestershire
Music Space provided the music therapy service, whilst
Artshape Limited recorded the project. Volunteers
came from the Gloucester Choral Society, whose singers
form the backbone of the Gloucester Festival Chorus.
